Its spectral inhabitants reportedly include Joseph Bentley, the hotel's builder who died there before its completion. Other alleged spirits are a child who tragically died in an elevator accident and a man said to have fallen from the grand staircase. Paranormal activity, including apparitions, cold spots, and items moving, is most frequently reported on the third floor. Its reputation attracted paranormal investigators, including an episode of 'Ghost Hunters'.
